On the edge of the Hivernage district, an easy walk from the ancient ramparts of the Medina and across from the Menara Gardens, the rose-hued walls of Four Seasons Hotel Marrakech enfold a resort and spa in 40 acres of sunlit Moorish gardens – filled with birdsongs, fountains and infinite rewards for couples and families.
The elegant hotel with its light, contemporary touch – is calming, comfortable and private yet inspiringly open. It has two enormous, slate-lined pools, one is for children and the onther one for adults.
Enthusiastic staff at the Kids Club run a daily timetable of activities, from pirate-hat-making to treasure hunts; for older children there is a screening room and Wii space.
Grown-up guests can enjoy three restaurants (Solano for Italian and Moroccan, Bleu d'Orange for French and poolside Azzera for burgers or salads), and a spa and hammam using Ila, Natura Bissé and local products.
The traditional, village-style architecture with a light, bright colour scheme of pale whites and creams creates an airy feeling within; and the rooms are plush and comfortable (Moorish tapestried cushions, squidgy sofas), with enormous bathrooms and private balconies with incredible views of the Resort, the Menara Gardens and the Atlas Mountains.
Service staff are generally excellent, dispensing chilled fresh-juice shots poolside and giving good restaurant recommendations at the concierge desk.
