Pregnancy Holidays Tips

  • Plan a relaxing holiday
  • Even if you have the energy to explore, give yourself several breaks a day to relax and rest. Avoid pressurised sports and activities that could put you at risk of falling. Get a massage, do yoga, swim, walk but avoid saunas and hot tubs.

  • Avoid dehydration
  • Especially if you are travelling to a warm destination. Always have a bottle of water and take regular sips.

  • Eat healthy
  • Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as it is very common to get constipated while travelling.

  • Aisle seat, please
  • Wether you are travelling by plane or train, choose an aisle seat. This will give you more freedom to stretch your legs and for your frequent visits to the lavatory.

  • Feet up
  • Don't sit still for too long, walk and do some stretches on planes and trains at least 30 minutes. If travelling by car, take breaks at least every 90 minutes. While seated put your feet up whenever possible with your shoes off. Wear flight socks on long journeys and flights to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis.

  • Vaccinations
  • Talk to your doctor, but it is generally best to avoid travelling to destinations where new vaccinations are needed.
